Step right up if you dare! This boozy milkshake will have you seeing double….double jointed contortionists, conjoined twins, or two faced Edward Mordrake. What did you think I meant? A simple vanilla milkshake spiked with apple pie moonshine, red icing stripes and topped with a mini funnel cake for extra carnival flair.

If making these for family night sans the alcohol, I suggest using apple pie ice cream or cookies and cream. Pop on your favorite carnival, clown, or freakshow movie and settle in under the big tent for an evening of wonder.

Milkshake Ingredients

  • Red food coloring

  • Red cookie icing

  • Chocolate frosting

  • Rainbow sprinkles

  • 2 cups Milk

  • 1 cup Vanilla or Apple Pie Ice Cream

  • 1.5 oz Moonshine

  • Funnel Cake Ingredients
  • 2 cups All Purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder

  • 1 cup Milk

  • 2 large Eggs

  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract

  • Vegetable oil

  • Powdered sugar

Directions

  • Take your food coloring and put a few drops into your cookie icing.
  • Using a NEW paint brush…(don’t use a previously used one, don’t be that person) paint the inside of the glasses with the red icing.
  • Take a knife and rim the outside of the glass with the chocolate frosting and top with the rainbow sprinkles.
  • Put the glasses in the freezer to firm up and keep them cold. Next make your funnel cake toppers.
  • For the funnel cakes, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl mix the milk, eggs, and vanilla. Combine both wet and dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  • Pour your vegetable oil in to a pot, at least 2 inches. Heat the oil till it reads 370 degrees.
  • Pour your batter into a funnel covering the bottom with your finger. If you don’t have a funnel, you can use a squeeze bottle. Then over the oil carefully remove your finger and move the funnel around in a swirling motion to make the funnel cake. If the batter is too thick, add a little more milk and thin out.
  • Each side should take about 90 seconds. Once cooked, immediately dust with powdered sugar and let it drain on a paper towel. When cooled, I used a biscuit cutter to make a smaller version to fit on the rim of the glass.
  • Now that you have your funnel cakes, grab your blender or milkshake maker and add the milk, ice cream and moonshine. Blend thoroughly. If it’s too thin, throw some ice cubes or a little more ice cream.
  • Grab the glasses out of the freezer and pour in the milkshake and top with your funnel cake topper.

Please let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy!
