THE MYSTERIOUS MERMAID TANK

Real or folklore, the mermaid or siren remains one of the many curiosities of the world. And with summer on the cusp, what better way to celebrate this mysterious creature then with a DIY tutorial using an old mermaid skeleton and a 10 gallon fish tank. So, pinch your nose, hold your breath, we are deep diving into the abyss to find this mysterious mermaid treasure.

HEART IN A BOX – THRIFT STORE PROJECT

Ah Valentine’s Day. Or in the Halloween world…Valoween. If we’re being real, everyone knows that Valentine’s Day should be dubbed 2nd Halloween. Please fund this. In the meantime, I thought I would throw some content into the world of Valoween with another Thrift Store Glow Up. This Valoween, why give a heart shaped box when you can give them a heart in a box!

FAUX CHAINS

If you know me by now, I am always on the hunt for a cheap, fun and genius project to hand off to you guys. The star of this project comes in the form of black pipe insulation. This is the perfect vehicle for making light (relatively durable) chains. What’s great about the pipe insulation is it’s already black and most of them these days are slit down the middle with a heavy adhesive ready to go.

LIQ R TREAT SIGN

After the success of my Boos & Booze sign and Funhouse sign, I thought a new marquee sign would be good to add to the mix. Since this year will be the first year with an experienced bartender at the party, I figured the bar needed an attractive sign to entice libation seeking partygoers. Made with insulation foam as the backing, simple remote controlled marquee lights and some simple techniques to creating a spooky sign.

THRIFT STORE PROJECT – DIORAMA

Curtain up! Sometimes timing lines up and a project idea clicks. A trip to the thrift store looking for something completely different and stumbling across a fun wooden stage with curtains and a small Halloween village building. Being a theater kid, I immediately saw the potential. I scooped them up and brought them home for a quick project.

GALLERY OF GLOWING EYES

Inspired by some portraits I came across in a haunted house not too long ago, I wanted to recreate what I saw since they didn’t appear in stores. I love a good challenge project. While this one wasn’t very difficult, there were some fun design concepts I had to go through before landing on the one you see now.

POOL NOODLE CANDLES

I know, another candle DIY. I’ll tell you though, flickering candles make such a huge impact with a Halloween setup, especially when you have plenty of them. Even more so, if you have different variations of candles, you can really create a unique setup. Last year you might of seen a pretty genius idea of using pool noodles to make a group of melting pillar candles. It’s very similar to the same idea using PVC pipes.

THRIFT STORE PROJECT – CANDELABRA

I found this 2.5 foot brass candelabra with missing parts and transformed it into a stunning black and orange centerpiece with a killer cobweb hack!

APOTHECARY LABELS

I thought you might like some help getting started with your apothecary display for Halloween. Here are some free printouts for your bottles.

HAUNTED PORTRAITS

This project is an absolute blast to put together. It involves some thrifting, printing, painting and a fun process of crackling frames. Pop on a killer Halloween playlist and you’re on your way. Not only that, I already have the portraits for you! All you need to do is click below and PRINT THEM FOR FREE!

LIGHTBULB SPIDERS

This super cheap and easy project for Halloween will add some new dimension and detail to any setup. They are larger and creepier than traditional plastic or fur covered spiders. I actually like these a little more because they have a Tim Burton quality to them.

BALL PIT HALLOWEEN GARLAND

Normally found in a pit full of pink eye, these hollow plastic balls have graduated up in the world to become garlands adorned over doorways, stairwells and patios. These are light in weight and suited for all weather decorating.

HAUNTED HAND LANTERN

After seeing many of our favorite Halloween Hunting stores carry some sort of arm or skeleton arm with an attached lantern, I wondered if I could create my own version. I scoured some thrift stores looking for items and between Goodwill and a few Michaels purchases I was able to create a sturdy and incredibly eye catching piece for Halloween.

MACABRE HOLIDAY CANDLES

I took these candles from holiday blah to Halloween huzzah! These candles are big every December in windowsills in every neighborhood. I thought what if they could get a makeover to make them more eerie and October minded. This project is similar to ones you may have seen using PVC pipe, but cheaper and easier to upgrade.

WITCHES CAULDRON COOLER

An insulated cauldron to keep brews and booze chilled during your party or doubles as a kick ass Halloween prop. Made with a keg bucket and cheap everyday items. This tutorial can also be used to “rust” up plastic cauldrons from party supply stores.

SKULL WALL SCONCES

An easy DIY decor that is cheap as they come and add an amazing effect to any Halloween occasion.

CREEPY (HAPPY) TREES

Famed TV artist icon Bob Ross was know for painting Happy Little Trees and everyone loved them. How could you not?! Well if you’re in the mood for the creepy version of those happy little trees, you’ve come to the right place.

FUNHOUSE SIGN

Lightweight in design and a heavyweight in the home decor department. This sign is sure to turn a few heads and add an awe inspiring look from fellow Halloween lovers. Perfect for any carnival themed Halloween party or the perfect conversation piece over your fireplace mantle.

BLOOMING SKULL HEADS

This project is super simple and honestly relatively inexpensive. Let your imagine run wild with these skull and flower combination. Also, it pays off if you have a friend who can arrange dead flowers and branches. These can be great additions to a festive Halloween wedding too!
