SUMMER BLOOD MAGIC SHELL

With a full moon and summer temperatures on the horizon, what better time to try out this bloody good dessert topping then now. I’ve wanted to try this homemade magic shell topping for awhile and after stumbling upon a recipe, I gave it go. These blood drip fudge popsicles are a love letter to warm summer nights and a nod to campy summer camp slasher films we all love so much. So while we wait for fall and endure summer, you can now enjoy the best of both worlds in one.

MC-ICE CREAM NUGGETS

On April 15, Ray Kroc opened his first McDonald’s restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois, in 1955. We have him to thank for the McNugget, broken ice cream machines, Mayor McCheese, and those nostalgic Halloween buckets. Being that it’s McDonalds anniversary, I thought I would make some nuggs that carry a sweet fall flavor in the perfect bite size treat.

HOMEMADE HALLOWEEN SPRINKLES

Getting through these dark and dank months of winter all while waiting for days of Halloween magic can be tough. Sometimes you need to create your own. Now I realize, you could buy Halloween sprinkles from Amazon. In fact, I’ll put a link here if you just want to buy them. However, there’s something to be said for making your own that ALSO taste way better than the flavorless candle wax versions (no offense if you like those).

OVERSIZED HALLOWEEN OREO

You know my love for Oreo in general is real as it gets. Let’s be honest, the best Oreo out there is the Halloween Oreo with the orange cream. It just slaps different (as the kids say). I don’t know what is different about it or what extra essence they have in that cookie, but there is nothing like it. With that being said, I’m always a little sad it isn’t just a touch bigger. So I thought….what if I make my own oversized Halloween Oreo. So I did. Here’s the result and I have to be honest….I absolutely love it. I hope you will love it too.

FULL MOON MARTINI

The freaks come out at night. Usually after a few drinks. What libations they must they be drinking? Full moons catch our attention like a sizzling plate of fajitas. This cocktail is not deeply rooted or even very difficult to make. This drink is a sipper. Give it a try and you might become moonstruck.

SNAKE CHARMER

Snake charmers have a tough job and one mistake can lead to one helluva bite. I have a cocktail that will do the same thing complete with a snake skin garnish!. While friendly, it can sneak up and attack without warning so enjoy this crisp refreshing bourbon drink, but don’t let your guard down. This snake can go from charming to hypnotically boozy quickly.

RED VELVET LINED (FRENCH TOAST) COFFINS

Vampires may not be a fan of the daylight and breakfast, but I bet they wouldn’t mind a luxurious red velvet brunch. When I think of red velvet, my mind goes directly to coffins….call me macabre, but damn, it makes for a delicious and luxurious brunch.

DEEP FRIED APPLE CIDER DONUT OREOS

As if Apple Cider Donut Oreos wasn’t enough (and sweet enough), what if we dipped it in batter and deep fry it and take it up another level. These treats take a spot on cookie and turn it into a fresh off the farm apple cider donut. It’s soft and pillowy (that’s a word right?) and inside is a perfectly soft melted Apple Cider Donut Oreo.

BOURBON PUMPKIN PIE MILKSHAKE

This Bourbon Pumpkin Pie Milkshake topped with double the ice cream treats for a little razzle dazzle. Vanilla ice cream, pumpkin puree, crumbled graham crackers, pumpkin pie spice…..and bourbon make up this front porch sipping, fall dreaming delight.

CHILLING CANDY BOARD

Charcuterie boards are all the rage these days and I mean I get it. I love a board filled with meats and cheeses. It’s not for everyone, so let’s switch it up and fill the board with Halloween treats of the candy kind. This board is fitted with fun fall flavored treats, Halloween classics and maybe something a little strange that boosted the Halloween serotonin coursing through my veins.

DONUT SHOPPE COPYCAT

This copycat recipe is a quick and easy way to have a fluffy as a cloud donut without all the fuss of waiting for yeast to activate and dough to rise. Using store bought biscuit dough and melting chocolate, these donuts have top billing!

WITCHES BREW-SKI

This is the result of an experiment I had one night while drinking a beer on the porch. I had just been gifted a bottle of this purple Empress 1908 Gin and I wanted to try it, but there I was already drinking a beer. In just minutes I had a mixture of the beer, the gin and lemon juice which suddenly turned a post yard work porch beer into a sophisticated party sipper with a distinct flavor. Fun fact too, when citrus hits the gin, it turns from purple to pink like some magic witch potion.

DANCE WITH THE DEVIL SNACK

takes two to tango and this snack with be dancing on your tongue with red pepper flakes and ranch. This version is spicer, less saltier (in my opinion) and throws in the powerhouse flavor of ranch.

SLASHER TRUFFLES

Two words that you wouldn’t normally find partnered together are now joining forces in a gory goodie bite size dessert. These soft cake truffles have a red velvet inside with a white candy coating outside and garnished with bloody candied cleavers, axes, and knives for a touch of elegance.

ZOMBIE SEX ON THE BEACH

While we suffer through the oppressive heat of summer waiting for Halloween, why not wait with a frozen tiki drink in one hand…or both? What if there was a hybrid tiki drink that really revved up those beach going days as you ponder the fall season? May I present, Zombie Sex on the Beach. A frozen concoction of rums, peach schnapps, and fruit juices blended together for one refreshing eye opener.

CANDY BOWL CRUNCH

This following recipe is a great mix of the classic Muddy Buddy and the simple delights of a Halloween candy bowl.

PINK STARBURST

This flavor packed sipper has a strange resemblance to the chewy candy. Strawberry in flavor, and potent in alcohol, a few simple fun ingredients gets the job done.

HALLOWS EVE

A fresh fizzy mix of ginger, apple, and cinnamon, perfect for a quiet chilly October night. Sipping this refreshing libation transports me to nights of crunchy leaves, a well worn hoodie and a flicker of a nearby jack-o-lantern.

FREAKSHAKE (APPLE PIE MOONSHINE MILKSHAKE)

Step right up if you dare! This boozy milkshake will have you seeing double….double jointed contortionists, conjoined twins, or two faced Edward Mordrake. What did you think I meant? A simple vanilla milkshake spiked with apple pie moonshine, red icing stripes and topped with a mini funnel cake for extra carnival flair.

CHERRY TOOTSIE ROLL POP

Wah-un, two-hoo, tha-ree of these and you’ll feel it. A reminiscent flavor of my favorite Halloween lollipop in liquid form. A basic rum and coke with a little extra umph in the taste department. It doesn’t take many licks to get to the center of this delicious cocktail. Perfect for sipping on the porch come Halloween night.

HEX AND THE CITY

In the mood for an elixir that goes down the gullet easily? This cocktail is packed with flavor and vodka, and drinks like morning juice. Hex and the City isn’t your typical flavor combo for Halloween, but damn if it doesn’t help get you in the spirit of the season. So grab some friends and clink to the Season of the Witch.

MY MILKSHAKE BRINGS ALL THE BOOS TO THE YARD

This milkshake is perfect for those not ready to let go of summer yet, but also in a Halloween frame of mind. This recipe is great for adults and kids. You’ll just leave the booze out for the kids.

CREEPY CARB CAKES (HALLOWEEN PANCAKES)

No matter how you stack it (see what I did there?) these pancakes make for great brunch eating or post party hangover carbs.

BLOOD ORANGE PARTY PUNCH

I’m always looking for a Halloween drink that isn’t too heavy and full of sugar. A drink I can have a few of and not feel weighed down afterward. Well I stumbled upon this one and I have a new favorite when it comes to a flavorful Halloween inspiring orange dream!

SUPER SUBLIME SLIME CAKE

Here’s a cake that delivers on taste and is great for any Halloween occasion. Well I think you’ll dig this masterpiece. Devils food cake with an electric green buttercream and a simple slime green ganache that makes everything from a Halloween party to a night of scary movies more festive.

THE INFAMOUS MAC & CHEESE BAR

Nothing is more comforting than a bowl of mac and cheese! Especially on a crisp fall night, before trick or treating or in my case feeding an army of Halloween partygoers. People are left to their own devices and come up with their very own creations. Easy set up and a lot of prep can be done the day before!

PICK YOUR POISON – BAR SETUP

Bartender or not, you want guests to find your drinks easily and hopefully incorporated into the decor of the party.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE BUFFET

Whether you are having a small 10 person shindig or a large 80 person rager, you’ll be wanting to include some viddles for your guests. Maybe it’s themed food from Pinterest or catered or just chips and dip. Is it potluck? Everyone brings a dessert? There’s no real wrong answer here. You’re the boss of the party.
